Vanessa Vergara left her career in marketing and public relations to pursue ocean conservation. As the ocean has always been her first love, she trained to be a scuba instructor and started to accumulate volunteer hours at a young age. Vanessa is the brand ambassador and consultant for one of the leading lifestyle and scuba establishments in the Philippines, Squires Bingham Sports, and her many travels have taken her to exotic places like South America. As she embarked on her journey she realized the threat to our oceans is greater than how the public perceives and that we are in a unique point in time where drastic changes can happen. She has then dedicated her life to using her skills and experience to empower people to join the cause. As the head of Reef Check Philippines, she has created programs to allow recreational divers, tourists and everyday citizens to play a huge role as citizen scientists and fight for the fate of our oceans.
